Today is Vanessa Hudgens' birthday. Yay! Happy birthday, Vanessa!! Oh wait. You just announced yesterday that you broke up with your boyfriend of 4+ years. This probably isn't going to be a super day.
The 'Beastly' actress is officially 22-years-old, but no word yet on the plans for this year's birthday. Last year she had dinner with some pals and her then-boyfriend Zac Efron. Later she had a surprise birthday party with a bunch of her friends and family.
Good thing she has plenty to be happy about and keep her mind off her relationship troubles.
Soon, she'll start doing press for 'Beastly' (which we're totally stoked about). In the film she works alongside 'I Am Number Four' cutie Alex Pettyfer. Unfortunately, we think he already has a girl in his life (Dianna Agron).
Although she's probably blue over her break-up with Zac, we hope she has an awesome day today. Zac and Vanessa met on the set of 'High School Musical,' and were seemingly inseparable over the years, as they were spotted together, hand-in-hand, at movie premieres and red carpet events all over the world.
Earlier this year, the 23-year-old 'Charlie St. Cloud' star told Details that he realizes he could be one of today's most eligible bachelors, but it wasn't what he wanted.
"Believe me, I wrack my brain thinking, 'Why am I not out there playing the field?'" he said, adding, "But it's not in my heart."
"Right off the bat, we had a connection," Vanessa told Glamour magazine in early 2010. She also said that they inspire each other, adding, "[I love] having someone to grow with."
Zac and Vanessa's breakup follows 2010 splits between Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley and more. Joe and Demi were also very adamant about remaining friends post-breakup.
